Colin 'Ollie' Murphy, a 50-year-old man and former member of the band HamsandwicH, was accused of raping a woman in her home at a house in Dublin in September 2020, after a party there. Gardaí searched his home the day after the rape and arrested him in November 2020, when he initially told them the sexual encounter was consensual. He was convicted of one count of rape at the Central Criminal Court earlier in 2024. On 7 August 2024 Mr Justice David Keane imposed a seven-year sentence with the final two years suspended on strict conditions, backdated to 7 March, though some reports gave the term as five years.
