  On 23 April 2021, a vehicle collided with a parked Peugeot 508 on the footpath at Cypress Gardens, Bay Estate, Dundalk, Co Louth, and drove away; gardaí received a report at 2.20am. Colin Finan, a 34-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after failing a roadside breath test, and later failed a breath test at Dundalk Garda Station. He was charged with careless driving, failing to stop, failing to remain at the scene, failing to give appropriate information and failing to report a collision, and after a contested hearing at Dundalk District Court he was convicted of drunk driving, fined €300 and disqualified for three years, with recognizance for an appeal fixed at the defence's request, as reported on 31 May 2023.
