Ciocolata Munteanu, a 26-year-old woman, faced two historic shoplifting charges for stealing two joints of ham from a store and cosmetics from a branch of Boots in Blackpool, Cork city, in late 2018 and early 2019. She was deported from Los Angeles to Dublin on 24 March 2026 by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and was arrested on arrival at Dublin Airport. She pleaded guilty at Cork District Court a day after her return, having earlier been declined a finalised case by Judge Mary Dorgan at a previous sitting. On 24 April 2026 the case was finalised with a fine of €100 for each theft, €200 in total, and she had paid €380 in compensation.
