• Man remanded on bail to plead guilty in Longford assault case Assault causing harm · Co. Longford

On 27 July 2022, Alan Kelly, 35, allegedly called Ciaran O'Reilly out to the front garden of his home in Granard, Co Longford, knocked him to the ground, and punched and kicked him, causing a broken collarbone to his left shoulder. Kelly, a father of four from Granard, was charged with assaulting O'Reilly and appeared at Longford District Court in April 2023, where the defence indicated a guilty plea. The judge noted Kelly had six previous convictions, mostly for hunting and hare coursing, and said the case could have been sent to the Circuit Criminal Court. Kelly was remanded on continuing bail to a sitting of Longford District Court on 4 July 2023.
