Cases
latest first- Full inquest into fatal Monaghan motorcycle crash set for May Road traffic incident (fatal) · Co. Monaghan
Alison Moore, 25, of Killycoonagh, Newbliss, Co Monaghan, was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle driven by her boyfriend Ciaran Murphy, 29, in a collision on the R183 Clones-Newbliss road in the early hours of a bank holiday Monday in June 2017, and she died on 10 June 2017 of catastrophic injuries. Murphy pleaded guilty at Monaghan Circuit Criminal Court to failing to keep a vehicle at the scene and to providing false information to gardaí, and was given a suspended two-year sentence and 240 hours of community service. Criminal and civil proceedings, including a legal action against Murphy and his motor insurers, had been concluded. At a preliminary inquest hearing in February 2023, the family raised concerns about a gap in the victim's whereabouts between 2.20am and 6.42am, and the coroner adjourned the hearing until March 27 with the full inquest scheduled for early May 2023.
