Jim Greene, a 55-year-old farmer from Ballyea North, Inagh, County Clare, was charged at Ennis District Court on 29 July 2025 with the harassment of Robert Foley and Ciara O'Flynn between 17 February and 5 or 6 May 2025, arson causing €16,743 in damage to household contents between 2 and 15 April 2025, and theft under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001. Greene tore up the three charge sheets in front of a Garda and told the officer it was a spiritual law matter. He has been on remand in custody at Limerick prison since 7 May 2025 after being refused bail. The DPP directed the case to Ennis Circuit Court, the Book of Evidence was served on 25 August 2025, and a capacity hearing is set for 4 November after a psychiatric report found Greene lacks capacity to instruct a solicitor.
