A two-car head-on collision on the outskirts of Ballymahon, Co Longford, in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, left three young women, Emer Gavigan (22), Ciara Fox and Orla Keane, in hospital with life-changing injuries. Jaison Kurian, a 46-year-old man from Ballyleague, Co Roscommon, was initially charged with drink driving and no insurance at Longford District Court in April 2023, and was later arraigned on two counts of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm at Longford Circuit Court in July 2024, where he pleaded guilty.
