Between October 1996 and February 1997, Christopher Vaughan, a man now aged 63 from Killeely Road, Ballynanty, Limerick, sexually abused a girl of about six at her home. The girl first disclosed the abuse to a friend and later to gardaí in 2020. A jury at the Central Criminal Court convicted Vaughan of two counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault, which he had denied at trial. Reports dated 27 April 2026 say he was jailed for 13 years, the judge's headline sentence.
