  Heidi Douglas, a two-year-old girl, died on 19 April 2016 three days after admission to Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin, from acute brain inflammation most likely caused by ingesting methadone. Her mother, Sadie Douglas, 39, a woman of Shankill, Co Dublin, was charged with wilful neglect leading to the child's death and pleaded not guilty. Her partner, Christopher O'Reilly, a man, pleaded guilty to the same charge in July 2021 and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. In June 2022, a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court acquitted Sadie Douglas of the charge.
