Christopher McFarland, a 22-year-old man from Letterkenny, County Donegal, was stopped by gardaí on the Leck road after his Toyota Corolla was seen moving very slowly on April 9, 2021. An oral fluid test was positive for cannabis, and a later blood sample was also positive, after which he was arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station. He was charged over the incident and appeared by video link from Castlerea Prison at Letterkenny District Court, where Judge Cunningham fined him €200 and disqualified him from driving for one year for drug-driving, with a charge of possession of cannabis taken into account.
