Christopher Hickey, 35, was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour, failure to comply, and failure to give information after becoming aggressive towards Gardaí at a car crash scene on College Avenue, Mountmellick, at 3am on 7 May 2020. He had been drinking and was awoken from his home by the crash and loud noise. He was not arrested at the scene. At Portlaoise District Court in December 2021, Judge Catherine Staines directed him to pay €300 to the Garda Benevolent Fund under Section 1(2) of the Probation Act.
