Christopher Donoghue, a 40-year-old man, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of cocaine with intent to supply at his address in Dublin 2 on 19 May 2017. Gardaí mounted a surveillance operation after a tip-off, secured a warrant, and raided his home where they found 25.199 grams of cocaine, weighing scales and plastic bags. Donoghue told gardaí some of the cocaine was for his daughter's first communion and some was to be sold. He had 12 previous convictions and was later diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, receiving palliative care by August 2021.
