  Christopher (Chris) Cussen, a 48-year-old man, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of a knife at Dublin Road, Portlaoise, on 22 April 2021. He appeared at Portlaoise District Court in October 2021, representing himself, and admitted the knife and cannabis were his. He objected to being called a citizen of Ireland, describing himself as a native man of Eire. Judge Staines adjourned the matter to 18 January for hearing.
