A 14-year-old Japanese spitz was surrendered to the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in September 2021 after suffering from maggots, a large spleen tumour, bacterial infection, and endocarditis, and was subsequently euthanised. Chloe Rogers, a 25-year-old woman from Rialto, Dublin, pleaded guilty to an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare Act for neglecting the dog and causing it unnecessary suffering.
