Celyn Eadon (31), formerly of Derrycrieve, Islandeady, Castlebar, Co Mayo, was charged with assaulting two men at Malahide Road, Artane, Dublin, on January 1, 2023, when a man was punched at an ATM and another was hit repeatedly on a bus. Eadon pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where the defence said he has an acquired brain injury from long-term alcohol and drug abuse. Judge Nolan imposed consecutive sentences totalling six years and suspended the final two years, as reported on July 14, 2023.

A 61-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, was convicted in May 2022 at the Central Criminal Court of seven counts of rape and six counts of indecent assault. The offences took place at his flat in Dublin city between 1991 and 1997, when the victim, his younger cousin now in his 40s, was aged 10 to 16. The attacks involved oral and anal rapes, with the victim being raped anally approximately 50 times a year. The victim reported the abuse to gardaí as an adult. The man denies the offending, has shown no remorse, and is already serving a seven-year prison term for sexual assaults on four girls; Justice Eileen Creedon adjourned sentencing to 24 October 2022.
