latest first- Man sentenced to three years for passport fraud at Dublin Airport Possession of a false instrument (passport fraud) · Co. Dublin
Algerian man Sabouni Abdelhamid, 33, was stopped at Dublin Airport on 3 September 2025 after arriving on a flight from Brussels, where authorities had flagged issues with his Irish passport. He had claimed to be the son of murdered Irish woman Catherine Corridan to obtain the passport, using the name Soufiane Bouchata and a driving licence. At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court he pleaded guilty to possession of a false instrument, providing false and misleading documentation, and having a false UK driving licence. Judge Orla Crowe imposed a three-year sentence backdated to his remand in September 2025, noting a headline sentence of six years was warranted.
