latest first- Man facing resentencing for sexual assault of stepdaughters in Dublin Sexual assault · Co. Dublin
Gerard Nevin, 42, a man, pleaded guilty to 22 counts of sexual assault of his stepdaughters Catalina Grancea, aged eight to 16, and Alexa Grancea, aged seven to 15, committed between 2012 and 2020 at various locations in Clondalkin, Lucan and Palmerstown, Dublin. In November 2024, Judge Sinéad Ní Chúlacháin imposed a global sentence of six years with the final two years suspended, giving an effective four-year term. The DPP appealed the sentence as unduly lenient. The Court of Appeal in November 2025 placed the offences in the upper range of gravity, set a headline sentence of nine to 14 years, and ordered Nevin to be resentenced on 4 December.
