  Carrie Keegan, 38, of Mountmellick, was charged with theft from Penneys at the Laois Shopping Centre in Portlaoise on 18 December 2021. She took items worth €62.50 that were in her handbag, and the goods were recovered. At Portlaoise District Court she was given the benefit of the Probation Act and apologised, saying she had relapsed with alcohol. The court noted she was on a suspended sentence from Portlaoise Circuit Court on a robbery charge, and the suspended sentence matter was sent back to Portlaoise Circuit Court for 10 February.
