  • Appeal dismissed in Bunclody rape case Rape · Co. Wexford

    John Giltrap, 61, of Bunclody, Co Wexford, was found guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court in Kilkenny in December 2020 on 20 of 22 counts of raping Caroline Kavanagh, who was aged between 10 and 15, at various locations in Bunclody between December 1978 and March 1982. He was sentenced to 11 years' imprisonment on each count, running concurrently. The Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal against the conviction on 27 January 2022. His lawyers plan to appeal the length of sentence.
