  Calvin McCormack, a man aged 28, was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Letterkenny Circuit Court in February 2026 for assault causing harm to Hollie Hickman, a woman who was 19 at the time. The court heard that McCormack allegedly punched Hickman in an unprovoked attack at Bundoran Community Library, Station Road, Bundoran, on 2 July 2023 after taking cocaine for the first time, leaving her with two jaw fractures and a permanent plate and screws inserted in her jaw. McCormack presented himself at Ballyshannon Garda Station in October 2023, was charged under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997, and pleaded guilty at Donegal Circuit Court in December 2024. The judge reduced the term from two years and eight months and suspended the final 12 months, giving credit for his early guilty plea and a €4,500 compensation offer that Hickman refused.
