On 16 December 2022 gardaí stopped Bruno Pilav, 25, of Cluain Arra, Newcastle West, at Sheahan's Road, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick, after he failed a roadside test. A blood sample taken at a garda station later showed cocaine, and Pilav was charged with drug driving. At the local court he pleaded guilty, and his solicitor said he had co-operated fully. Judge Carol Anne Coolican disqualified him from driving for one year and fined him €500, and his solicitor asked for the ban to be postponed until July, as reported on 31 January 2024.
