• Man jailed for 15 years for 2007 murder in Limerick Murder · Co. Limerick

Noel Campion, a 35-year-old man, was shot dead as a pillion passenger on a motorbike at Thomondgate, Limerick, on 26 April 2007 when a gunman emerged from a phonebox and fired multiple shots. Darragh Quinlivan, a 42-year-old man originally from southside Limerick but living in Greater Manchester, was arrested at Shannon Airport on 15 November 2024 and charged with murder. He pleaded guilty in January 2026 to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and to participating in the Dundon-McCarthy criminal organisation by shooting Campion, rather than to murder. On 9 February 2026, the Central Criminal Court sentenced him to 16 years with the final 12 months suspended, plus four years concurrent on the criminal organisation count.
