Two men threatened to kill a 55-year-old man sitting in his parked car on Dorset Lane in Dublin at about 2.45am on 30 August 2025, then stabbed him five times with a screwdriver and drove off in his vehicle with him in the back seat. Brian O'Connor, 31, was arrested with a second man just after 3am and charged with assault causing harm, production of a weapon, and motor theft. He was remanded in custody at Dublin District Court on 1 September 2025 after bail was refused. O'Connor pleaded guilty to seizing a vehicle by force and assault causing harm at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, and sentencing was adjourned to November to allow a probation report to be prepared.
