Brian McKeown, 29, struck a man in his 40s four times outside the Swallows Pub in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, at approximately 5pm on 4 January 2025, with the last blow hitting the victim's head and leaving him unconscious. The injured man required emergency surgery for serious head injuries and spent several weeks in a coma. McKeown was arrested on 13 January 2025 and charged with assault causing harm under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997. He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 24 April 2026 and was remanded on continuing bail, with the case adjourned to July 2026 for sentencing.
