Brian Loughnane of Thurles was charged with stealing five protest signs valued at €115 from anti-greyhound racing groups after a dispute at Thurles Greyhound Stadium on 17 August 2019. The four complainants, Michelle O'Donohue, Hannah Fitzgerald, Katie Corcoran and Margaret O'Rourke, were members of Greyhound Awareness Cork and Tipperary Greyhound Awareness. Loughnane was interviewed by a garda in October 2019 and the case was heard at Thurles district court. On 8 December 2021, Judge Elizabeth MacGrath dismissed the charge, ruling the threshold for conviction was not met because the signs were not recovered in the defendant's possession.
