• Farmers' iron bar assault case adjourned at Gort District Court Assault causing harm · Co. Galway

Brendan Forde, a 52-year-old man, is charged with assault causing harm and producing an iron bar after allegedly injuring Brian Gill, a 40-year-old man, at Cahermore, Kinvara, Co Galway on 1 July 2021. The dispute reportedly arose from a belief that a 13-year-old boy was driving a tractor. Gill also faces a charge of assaulting Forde on the same date. Both men pleaded not guilty at Gort District Court on 4 July 2023, where Judge Alec Gabbett said the case would require a special session and adjourned it to fix a hearing date later in the year.
