  Brian Farrell, 36, of Co Carlow, is accused of possessing drugs for sale or supply and obstructing Gardaí by turning off his mobile phone and throwing it away at an address at Lake Drive, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, on 10 March 2026. He appeared before Portlaoise District Court on 5 October 2026, where a barrister sought to have the drug charges struck out due to delays in DPP directions while awaiting an FSI certificate. Judge Andrew Gubbins refused to strike the matter out, marked the case peremptory against the State, and remanded the defendant on bail.
