latest first- Man sentenced to four-and-a-half years for Templeogue robbery Robbery · Co. Dublin
On 7 October 2016, a 73-year-old woman was mugged of €23,000 she had won playing roulette at The Fitzwilliam Casino and Card Club, outside her home in Templeogue, Dublin. Iancu Nicola, a 31-year-old man, carried out the mugging while Declan Connolly, a 41-year-old man, followed the woman from the casino and Brian English, a 32-year-old man, monitored her activities as a spotter. Nicola absconded the day after the attack and was arrested in Romania in October 2021 before being brought back to Ireland on a European Arrest Warrant. Connolly and English were sentenced in November 2019, and Nicola pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court before being sentenced in November 2022 to four-and-a-half years in prison with the final 18 months suspended.
