Brian Carrie, 39, a man from Crumlin, Dublin, pleaded guilty to oral rape, assault, strangulation, criminal damage, production of knives, and threats to kill a woman at her home in October 2024. The woman had allowed Carrie to stay in her home after he left an addiction treatment centre, and after the final incident she contacted gardaí, leading to his arrest. At the Central Criminal Court, Mr Justice Tony Hunt set a headline sentence of 12 years, reduced to nine years, with 18 months suspended on conditions including no contact with the victim for an indefinite period. Carrie was jailed for seven and a half years on 2 November 2026.
