Journalist Brendan O'Connor has filed a High Court action against Mediahuis Ireland, formerly Independent News & Media, and former chair Leslie Buckley over a 2014 data breach in which his emails were allegedly illegally accessed. The Data Protection Commission found the breach to be illegal. Several other members of the INM 19 cohort are understood to have settled in recent weeks, with Mediahuis reportedly setting aside about €10 million for the data cases. The proceedings were filed by solicitor Simon McAleese on Friday, 2 December 2022.
