On 9 November 2025, Brendan Monaghan, a man in his 40s from Kilcormac, Co Offaly, ran onto the pitch at UPMC Nowlan Park in Kilkenny at the end of a senior club quarter-final hurling match between Ballyhale Shamrocks and Kilcormac Killoughey, struck hurler Adrian Mullen three times on the head, and attempted to strike TJ Reid with a hurl before being restrained.
