Two Gardaí attended a domestic disturbance in Clara, Offaly, on 3 September 2020, where they witnessed Brendan Egan, 29, a man of Cluain Fia, Clara, being abusive and threatening to his partner. Egan pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and intoxication in a public place at Tullamore District Court. Judge John King convicted him and fined him €400, payable over three months. At the time of the incident he was breaking up with his partner after ten and a half years, and he had since given up alcohol and rekindled a civil relationship with her.
