• Two men plead guilty to aggravated burglary in Kilmacrennan Aggravated burglary · Co. Donegal

  Brandon McGinley, 25, and Adrian Mitchell, 19, both men from Letterkenny, were charged with aggravated burglary after allegedly entering a building as trespassers and producing an article capable of causing serious injury during a dispute in the Gort Na Rí area of Kilmacrennan, Co Donegal, in the early hours of 9 or 10 June 2025. The pair were allegedly armed with a baseball bat and a machete, or a slash hook and a bat, and were identified after a manhunt was launched. They were refused bail at Buncrana District Court in June 2025 and remanded in custody, appearing by video link from Castlerea Prison at subsequent court dates. Both men pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary at Letterkenny Circuit Court in November 2025 and were remanded in custody, with the court ordering a probation and welfare report and a psychiatric report.

  Brandon McGinley, a 25-year-old man from Glenard Park, Long Lane, Letterkenny, was charged with threatening to kill, assaulting, and producing offensive weapons (a bill hook and a knife) in connection with incidents involving Gemma Penny between October 2023 and April 2024. The charges also include a threat to damage property at 32 Castlegrange Park, Strabane, Co Tyrone, belonging to Penny and her family. McGinley was brought before Letterkenny District Court on 28 March 2025, where he made no reply after being cautioned. Bail conditions were agreed and the case was adjourned to 28 April 2025 for a book of evidence to be served.
