Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh, a TV presenter, alleged she was sexually harassed and victimised while working for RTÉ in July 2019 and lodged a complaint under the Employment Equality Act. A preliminary WRC hearing at Lansdowne House, Dublin 4, took place in May 2022, with the adjudicating officer directing the press not to name any witnesses. The main hearing, originally set for 29 June 2022, was adjourned to 8 September 2022 after key defence witnesses contracted Covid-19. On 8 September 2022, Ní Chofaigh withdrew the case at the opening of the hearing, with no compensation paid and both parties agreeing to draw a line in the sand. RTÉ denied all allegations throughout the proceedings.
