Bjorn Tveter, a 40-year-old Norwegian telecommunications engineer from Jessheim, Norway, is charged with stealing a rental Audi hired in Dublin on 25 November 2020 using false documentation and driving it to Norway. After Detective Garda McGrath contacted him 14 times by email and by phone without response, a European Arrest Warrant was issued and Spanish police stopped him near Gibraltar on 13 January 2023. He was brought back to Ireland on 25 January 2023, charged the following day, and initially replied 'not guilty' to the theft charge at Dublin District Court. He later dropped his bail application and, on 20 February 2023, pleaded guilty before Judge Michele Finan, who sent him forward for sentencing at the Circuit Court, listed on 10 March 2023.
