    A 50-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife pleaded guilty at Portlaoise District Court to stealing groceries worth €71.90 from Aldi in Portarlington on 14 August 2026. Guy Kalama was identified on CCTV entering the store and taking the goods at 2.45pm, and the items were not recovered. The couple, who live in Portlaoise and are in receipt of social welfare, each had previous theft convictions. Judge Andrew Gubbins fined each of them €200 and granted legal aid.
