On Saturday 10 October 2026, a violent disorder incident occurred at St Michael's Square and the Marina car park in Ballinasloe, Co Galway, during the closing day of the International Horse Fair. Gardaí on proactive patrol arrested six men; five were charged and one juvenile was released without charge. Eight men, aged 18 to 30, appeared before a special sitting of Loughrea District Court on 11 October and were remanded on bail to appear at Ballinasloe District Court in November and December. A ninth man, David Joyce, 39, of Moate, Co Westmeath, was charged on 22 October with violent disorder and production of an iron bar capable of inflicting serious harm, and was remanded on bail to appear on 3 December.

On Christmas Eve 2022, Dean Lynch was assaulted at his home in Arden View, Tullamore, where he was struck in the head and eye with an implement by an unidentified male before reaching for a knife to defend himself. Michael Sweeney, 23, and Bernie Ward, 26, were arrested in January and February 2023 and later pleaded guilty to the offences. Sweeney was convicted of aggravated burglary and assault while Ward was convicted of assault. At Tullamore Circuit Court, both men received headline sentences of two-and-a-half years, suspended for five years, on condition they each pay €2,500 to Lynch and remain under probation supervision for 18 months.

On 16 September 2021, Gardaí entered 146 Arden View, Tullamore, County Offaly, on foot of a bench warrant and found a large bag of cocaine and Benzocaine along with drug paraphernalia valued at €2,964. Bernie Ward, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of selling or supplying. At Tullamore District Court, Ward pleaded guilty at the last minute, making admissions that the cocaine was for his own use. Judge Andrew Cody, noting it was Ward's seventh appearance before the court and that he had four previous convictions, imposed a six-month sentence suspended for three years.
