On 12 April 2021, Bernie Geraghty, 63, of Glenanail Drive, Riverside, Galway, was spotted by other drivers driving over the white line at Drumbane and Riverstown in Birr, Offaly, before Gardaí stopped her on the Military Road in Birr. A blood sample showed an alcohol level of 185 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood. She was convicted of dangerous driving and driving over the alcohol limit. In February 2022, Judge Catherine Staines at Tullamore District Court fined her €300 and disqualified her from driving for three years.
