  A collie and German shepherd mix escaped from a house on Berryridge Avenue, Maryborough, Portlaoise, on 15 January 2026, attacking a smaller dog and knocking over a two-year-old girl who suffered bruising to her right eye. Bartosz Jaroszewski, 19, admitted having an uncontrolled dog at Portlaoise District Court. Judge Andrew Gubbins applied the probation act on condition the man donates €330 to the NSPCA, and the dog was sent to the Legendary Stardust Farm in Poland for behavioural therapy.

• Three boys charged over serious public disorder in Saggart, Dublin Serious public disorder · Co. Dublin

  Serious public disorder broke out at a protest outside an IPAS accommodation centre at Citywest Hotel, Saggart, Co. Dublin, on 21 and 22 October 2025, after a 10-year-old girl in Tusla's care was allegedly sexually assaulted. Bricks, bottles, and fireworks were thrown at Gardaí, horses and scrambler motorbikes were used to breach the cordon, and Garda vehicles were burned, with three or four Gardaí injured. A total of 36 people were arrested, including Karol Piskorski, a 44-year-old Polish man, and 17 adults were charged with public order offences. On 7 November 2025, three juvenile males were arrested and charged, and the investigation continues from Clondalkin Garda Station.
