    Bartlomiej Jochym, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on 14 December 2022 after telling gardai to 'f**k off and mind their own business' when they approached him on the Mountmellick Road in Portlaoise. He appeared at Portlaoise District Court on 5 January 2023 and pleaded guilty to the public order offence. His solicitor told the court he has schizophrenia, works as a metal worker, and has not been in trouble in six and a half years. Judge Andrew Cody ordered a probation report and adjourned the case to 7 July 2023.
