  Austin Mvula, 37, is accused of assaulting a man at Esker Hills in Portlaoise, Laois, on 8 October 2020. The defence said the alleged offence occurred a considerable time ago and queried the delay. At Portlaoise District Court, solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick asked for disclosure, and Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said there could have been a number of reasons for the delay and that he would have to make enquiries. Judge Nicola Andrews said she would deal with the delay on the next date, and the case was adjourned to 8 July 2024.
