Stephen Rabbitte, 36, a man, strangled and stabbed his then-partner Audrey Reddin, a woman, in their bed at Marlborough Road, Dublin 7, on 10 April 2021, leaving the tip of a knife embedded in her spine. He also attacked her with a slash hook before a neighbour intervened. Rabbitte, who was on a suspended drug sentence at the time, pleaded guilty to the attempted murder. On 27 February 2023, Ms Justice Eileen Creedon at the Central Criminal Court sentenced him to 16 years in prison with the final year suspended, backdated to 12 April 2021, and he will appear at Galway Circuit Court on 7 March for reactivation of his prior suspended sentence.
