On 8 February 2022, Arturs Nagornijs, a 41-year-old Latvian construction company director based in Nice, France, sexually assaulted an 18-year-old Ryanair cabin crew member by putting his hand up her skirt during a flight from London Stansted to Dublin. He was also observed acting erratically and, after landing, locked himself in a toilet before urinating on himself, the seat and the floor. Gardaí removed him from the aircraft and he was charged with sexual assault, intoxication and behaviour likely to cause offence or annoyance. He pleaded guilty before Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court on 9 February 2022. On 11 February 2022, the judge recorded a criminal conviction but made no further order after Nagornijs paid €2,500 compensation, complied with bail conditions and apologised through his solicitor.
