latest first- Man sentenced to community service for Lanesboro assault and knife possession Assault; possession of a knife · Co. Longford
A 43-year-old Polish man, Artur Rydzak, was sentenced at Longford Circuit Court in June 2023 to 200 hours of community service in lieu of nine months in custody for an assault and possession of a knife. The incident occurred on Main Street, Lanesboro, County Longford, shortly after midnight on 21 November 2021, when Ryan Garland, a man in his 20s, was allegedly attacked and taken to Mullingar's Midland Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Rydzak was arrested at 12:25am following a search operation and initially pleaded not guilty to the assault charge at Longford District Court in June 2022. He later pleaded guilty to both charges, and Judge Kenneth Connolly cited mitigation including the defendant being confronted, his co-operation with gardaí, his early guilty plea, and remorse.
