• Charge dismissed against man who had Stanley knife at Letterkenny nightclub Possession of a knife · Co. Donegal

On 27 May 2023 security staff escorted Artjoms Sagrebins, a 24-year-old man, from a Letterkenny nightclub and alerted gardaí to a Stanley knife in his pocket. Gardaí arrested him at 1.32am and charged him with possession of a knife at 2.48am, and he made no reply. At Letterkenny District Court, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham dismissed the charge, accepting the man's evidence that he had the knife for work, and warned that such items should not be brought out when socialising. The charge was dismissed with no conviction recorded, and this court outcome, reported in January 2025, is the latest development.
