Arslan Cheema, a 29-year-old food delivery man, was accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old student who had ordered takeaways from him. The assault took place on 4 April 2021 in a car outside student accommodation in Dublin city centre. Cheema was arrested and gave gardaí a different account, and on 18 October 2024 he pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to one count of sexual assault, with sentencing adjourned. On 4 November 2024 Judge Orla Crowe imposed an 18-month sentence, suspended in full for three years on strict conditions, and ordered that Cheema be placed on the sex offenders' register.
