latest first- Garda file on online harassment in Dublin to go to DPP Harassment (online) · Co. Dublin
Aoife Moore, a political correspondent for The Irish Examiner, complained of online harassment via Twitter in May 2021, naming former senator Eoghan Harris and former Sunday Independent journalist Gwen Halley as the people behind the accounts. A Garda investigation at Pearse Street, Dublin, which involved interviewing the parties, has now been completed and the file is about to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision on whether the allegations are criminal. Moore has also initiated separate High Court defamation proceedings against Ms Halley over the Dolly White account and against Mr Harris over the Barbara J Pym account.
