A two-year-old girl, Aoife Haynes Murphy, was found safe and well in the Dublin area on 12 October 2021 after a Child Rescue Ireland Alert was launched and subsequently stood down. A man and a woman, both in their 30s, were arrested and charged with abducting the child under Section 15 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997. The couple allegedly told gardaí they intended to leave the jurisdiction and made admissions when interviewed at a Dublin garda station.
