  Ten men, including Spanish, Dutch and Serbian nationals and a man from Co Fermanagh, were arrested in Tragumna and Leap near Skibbereen, west Cork, on 14 March 2024 after gardaí intercepted a camper van, SUV and articulated lorry linked to a failed attempt to collect cocaine from a mothership at sea. They were charged with conspiring to import controlled drugs worth in excess of €13,000 between 27 February and 14 March 2024. Seven co-accused pleaded guilty and received sentences of between seven and 12 years, and Pedro Pablo Ojeda Ortega and Angel Serran Padilla also pleaded guilty. Raul Tabares Garcia, a 50-year-old Spanish national from Cadiz, lost his bail appeal at the Court of Appeal in May 2026, with Judge Alexander Owens agreeing he was a flight risk. He and co-accused Ali Ghasemi Mazidi and Seán Curran are seeking trial dates at the Special Criminal Court.
