latest first- Appeal dismissed for Kerry man convicted of raping younger brother Sexual assault · Co. Kerry
Paul Kelly, 47, an Irish man from Shronedraugh, Headford, Killarney, Co. Kerry, was convicted in November 2024 of 12 sample counts of sexual assault, two counts of oral rape and 12 counts of anal rape of his younger brother Anthony Kelly, who was between 10 and 14 at the time. The abuse took place at the family home between 1995 and 1999, when Paul was aged 16 to 20. Anthony Kelly, who waived his right to anonymity, came forward to make a complaint in 2021. Kelly was jailed for seven and a half years by Judge Melanie Greally. The Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal against conviction in July 2026, rejecting his argument that a witness's use of the present perfect continuous tense was inconsistent with the evidence.
Convicted, 24 Jul 2026Victim · 3 reports - Kelly loses appeal in Limerick pub licence objection Pub licence renewal (licensing objection) · Co. Limerick
On 15 April 2024, Anthony Kelly, a man in his 60s from Southill, Limerick, was playing cards at The Spotted Dog pub in Limerick city when Kenneth Dundon, also in his 60s, entered and sat with Kelly's friends. Publican Eamonn O'Rahilly barred both men, and Kelly subsequently objected to O'Rahilly's renewal of the pub's intoxicating liquor licence, claiming the licensee unreasonably refused to serve persons. At Limerick District Court in February 2025, Judge Patricia Harney dismissed Kelly's objection and awarded costs against him. Kelly's appeal was dismissed at Limerick Circuit Court in May 2025 by Judge Colin Daly, who affirmed the District Court judgement with no order for costs.
